Ushikata-Yado
Ushikata-Yado was the place Ushikata slept with the cows after pulling 7-8 cows, using the bridle. Those cows carried two salt straw bags (Shiodawara) each. Ushikata-Yado existed all over the place in Chikuni-kaidou, though the existence at the present is only here. This building is the only valuable proof of an old Ushikata-Yado. This Ushikata-Yado is a high-quality building of the beginning of 19th century, compare to any other buildings at that time. It became a tangible cultural property of Otari-Village in 1997. The village purchased it afterwards, restored an aspect of house to an original base, and opened for visitors in the spring of 2004. The Ushikata-Yado was specified for the prefecture treasure in 2009.


Shio-no-michi(Salt Road)
Chikuni-kaidou Shio-no-michi is the road where connects from Itoigawa-City through Matsumoto-City. It is called "Shio-no-michi (Salt Road)" recently. It was the road where various life goods were carried by Ushikata and Bocca, such as salt, marine products, hemp, and cigarettes.

Ushikata
Ushikata is a person who walks Shio-no-michi by pulling cows except winter season. It was a main work at the time for farmers during non- farming season.


Bocca
Bocca is a group of people who carries luggage on their shoulder. Those people were mainly farmers lived along Shio-no-michi. Bocca walked and carried life goods the half a year along Shio-no-michi during winter season. Bocca carried 47kg (about 100lb) of salt each on their back and walked over mountains.

Shiogura
Shiogura was the warehouseto keep the salt. This Shiogura is the only warehouse to exist in Chikuni-kaidou at the present. Because the metal corrodes with salinity, none of iron nails are used in order to build Shiogura. The salt was kept in upper area of Shiogura. This Shiogura was dismantled and reconstructed to a present area for the preservation in 2007. It is a tangible cultural property of Otari-Village.
